Jacob began playing performing at the age of eleven with the acoustic instrumental group Indalo Wind. With Jacob and his father, Eric Walter, at the heart of the ensemble, Indalo Wind has released two albums with original and traditional material from Europe, Asia, and America as well as an EP of improvised material. Jacob studied flamenco guitar growing up and played in jazz and rock ensembles throughout high school. He has composed, recorded, and produced three instrumental solo albums.
His first solo album, Surfing in the Rain, was released as a fundraiser for the Music for Everyone School in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where he and his father had the chance to teach and play in March of 2014. Jacob also assistant-taught at the Youth Music Project from 2015 to 2017 through the internship program. Jacob is currently studying Environmental and Urban Studies at the University of Chicago.
